Liberty Village is a new 60-unit supportive housing development built on a portion of the former North Armed Forces Reserve Center site in Amityville, New York. The 48 one- and 12 two-bedroom furnished apartments target homeless single adults and families, with a priority on veterans with special needs. The homes are affordable to those earning at or below 50 percent of Area Median Income.
The property was divided into three lots, one that was added to an existing park and includes a playground and pool available to Liberty Village residents. The second contains a community resource center known as the SUCCESS Center and houses several not-for-profit groups providing a variety of support services, and the third, centrally located, contains CA’s 60 homes.
Services are provided through various providers dedicated to the prevention and reduction of homelessness and include case management, educational programs, job placement assistance, connections to clinical, medical and legal services and parenting education.
Sponsor, Concern for Independent Living, Inc., is the leading supportive housing provider on Long Island, operating more than 30 housing programs for special needs populations. National Equity Fund® invested $13.1 million of LIHTC equity.
