“NEF’s proven ability to remain resilient and mission-oriented is a testament to our stability as a capital partner, which allows us to strategically invest and meet the needs of our developers. The groundbreaking of 1539 N. Pulaski is a direct result of values-aligned organizations coming together to increase access to affordable housing for seniors in Chicago.”

A few weeks ago, NEF’s president & CEO Matt Reilein spoke at the groundbreaking of the Pioneer Arcade building at 1539 N Pulaski. Our partners at Hispanic Housing Development Corporation saw an opportunity for the adaptive reuse of the historic Pioneer Arcade building and a new, six-story addition that will provide 61 units of affordable housing for seniors in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago.

The new complex will have 58 one-bedroom units and three two-bedroom units, with one of the latter reserved for a resident manager.  Residents will have access to a fitness room, a mail room, bike storage, and a community room with a kitchenette. Additionally, a health exam and counseling room as well as supportive services offices will be available to empower seniors to live independently and age in place.

Thank you to all of the dignitaries who came out in support of outstanding development, including U.S. Representative Delia C. Ramirez and alderperson Jessie Fuentes. And thank you to the team – Danny Gutman, Sean Hilliard, Jacob Kayser, and Rodney Pruitt – for representing NEF.
