Last week, developer Concern for Independent Living, Inc. (Concern) celebrated the ribbon cutting for Liberty Station! The NEF syndicated development consists of six two-story residential buildings and a one-story community building in the Long Island community of Port Jefferson Station, New York. The development contains 76 Low‐Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) units plus one superintendent unit. There are 25 one‐bedroom apartments set aside for veterans, and another 20 units give preference to veterans. The remaining units are targeted for individuals earning less than 50 percent of the AMI.
“We are thrilled to join the Port Jefferson community and provide a housing option that is in desperate need for so many in our region,” said Ralph Fasano, Executive Director of Concern Housing. “Liberty Station offers veterans who have fought for our country quality, affordable housing, as everyone deserves to live with dignity and respect.”
All residents will have access to a variety of common area amenities, including a clubhouse/community room, fitness center, courtyard, picnic area, library, a computer room and sports court. Residents have access to private parking lots, and on-site staff offices provide easily accessible support. The development is also close to major bus routes and the Port Jefferson LIRR station, giving all residents convenient access to public transportation.
Liberty Station is the seventh partnership between NEF and Concern. Concern is a highly accomplished developer and operator of supportive housing based in Suffolk County, New York. Concern was organized as a non‐profit in 1972 with a mission to provide housing and services for low-income persons with psychiatric and other disabilities. Concern develops, manages, and provides services to an array of housing projects ranging from highly supervised community residences to independent housing in scattered rental apartments. The expertise their longevity brings makes Concern an excellent and trusted partner. We share their steadfast commitment to expanding the availability of affordable housing, and hope to continue working to create more critically needed developments like Liberty Station.← Back
